    Hi

The File Identify Variable in Copilot Studio allows you to work with files uploaded by users during interactions. The File Identify Variable acts as a reference to a file that a user provides during interaction with a Copilot agent.

    1. Can we get the file from the user and save the response using the File Identify entity? Pass the file information to Power Automate or another backend service to handle file storage. Use Power Automate to save the file to a SharePoint Document Library, Dataverse, or another storage system.

    2. Can we pass the file to Power Automate Cloud Flow to save the File in SharePoint Document Library? Yes, you can pass the file to Power Automate Cloud Flows: Use the File Identify Variable to reference the uploaded file. Pass this variable as an input to the flow, which can then use SharePoint actions like "Create File" to save the file in a document library.

    3. Can we pass the File to Prompt? No, the File Identify Variable cannot be directly passed into a Prompt as input. Prompts in Copilot Studio are designed to work with textual or structured data.

    pls try.

    thanks.

Is there a way to pass the file name as well as the file content? I cannot find a way to include the original file name?

    Thanks

    Hi llyrjones & SaiRT14 ,

    Thanks for the response!!

I have tried the same but while passing file as input to Power automate cloud flow. The Variable is getting error. The File is "File Type" and in Power Automate input variable it is "record type". The Error is "BindingIncorrectTypeError", because it is expecting the record content. Can you please help me on this. How to Pass the file type to Power Automate Cloud Flow.

    Hi Hema,

I would directly use the "Create file" connector directly in your bot for this.

You can then add the file under "File Content".

However, there's not way currently (as far as I know) to get the file name. So you have to generate one using Text(GUID()) for example.

@SaiRT14 can you confirm this r.e. the file name?

Did you find a way to extract the content type from the uploaded file variable?
