Power Pages rendering

Can anyone tell me or point to documents that describe the power pages page rendering process?
That is, how does power pages build (render) a page?
 
I figure it's a combo between headers (default or your own), web templates, local page content.
And in what order?  
 
Does it matter if Enhanced Data Model is on or not?
 
Also, how to make code entered in the power pages management app (PPMA) editable in the power pages design studio.  I'm pretty sure it's a liquid 'editable' statement.
