Powerapps ID not generating dynamically in excel source

Hi Experts,

I have a canvas app created on top of an excel source.

Now with excel you are required to format it as table and then it can be used.

The ID column option I selected was auto-generate PowerApps ID.

Now it works fine at the first time.

But if someone goes in the excel and adds a new row, powerapp ID for that row is not generated automatically because of which for my calculations on the app, the new row is not considered.

Can someone help me know if this is the expected behavior or I am missing something here?

If you have any calculated column in your excel, remove it. That would not work.

Just to clarify your question, the problem is that if someone directly adds a row in the Excel spreadsheet outside of Power Apps, the Power Apps ID is not automatically generated?

If that's the case, that's expected behaviour. Power Apps manages the ID value and creates this value only when we add records through Power Apps. If we add records outside of Power Apps, this value is not automatically generated.

Hi Timl, I get that power apps adds this data when it creates an item, but I have a similar issue. Sometimes Items are created through power apps and sometimes it is created through a flow running from a MS form. Now for about 1year everything was created through a Flow and all of them have a Powerapps_ID but since i started using the app, Any that are created through the Flow don't have it.
Now I can't Patch any entry that was added from Flows after the date I connected the table. Is there no way that it should add the Powerapps_ID to ones that don't have it? is this only done at the time of connecting the table and not on an entry by entry bases? I can not be the only person who uses two different data entry points to update a table?

Mine is for customer details and when a customer submits a form it takes the contact info and adds it to a table they can't have access to the power app so do I have to keep going in and removing the connector and then re-adding it?

If that is the case, then how can we get it to generate the codes without having to rebuild the app EVERY SINGLE TIME you have to update the data?

I have data from another source that cannot be connected to PowerApps. As such, I have to get a data extraction, add it to the Excel file, (sometimes deleting rows as the numbers vary), and I have to do this every month.

Keeping the data in a SharePoint list is not viable, either, given the number of columns and the thousands of rows of items.
