It is stored in whatever Environment you create it in within your Tenant (is this what you are asking ?)

To give a less detailed reply to your question compared to Warren's correct answer, everything is stored on Microsoft servers in the Microsoft cloud.

I assume the nature of your question is to find out if anything is stored locally in case you need to back things up?

The app's metadata, configuration, and other related files are stored in the environment where the app was created.

Each environment is associated with an Azure region and is managed by the Power Platform admin.

If the app uses Dataverse as its backend, the app's data and any relational entities will also be stored in Dataverse

If you're using external data sources (e.g., SharePoint, SQL Server, or Excel Online), the app only references this data. The app itself is still stored in the Power Platform environment.

I understand the app has to be stored inside an environment.

I'm curious if there's a storage limit of some kind? For example, if we upload files to OneDrive/SharePoint, it counts towards your OneDrive/SharePoint storage, and if we store data in the Dataverse, it counts towards the Dataverse storage. Does Power App apps take up storage somewhere, and is there a way to check it?

There's no storage limit to the number of apps you can create or store in an environment. You can create however much you like.
