Sharing SharePoint connection

Hi All,

I have built a powerapp to allow users to write/edit data from a SharePoint list. I however do not want users to have the permission to access the sharepoint list directly. Currently I must give them edit permissions on the list, which theoretically means they can login to the sharpoint site and make edits to the list .The powerapp will control what can be written. For example the powerapp will disable the sumbit button after a certin date.

Am I able to share a connection to the sharpoint list so when people are using the app, they are connecting to the list though my own credentials instead of there own 365 account.

Hi - It sounds like SharePoint's 'Item-level permissions' might meet your requirement (see section at the bottom of the screenshot). These can be found under:

    List Settings > Advanced Settings

    Hi Geraint,

I can control the iteam level permission of the sharepoint list, however if disable access to the sharepoint list for all users they will not be able to run the app properly as it uses their credentials to write to the list. What is really required is some way of embedding sharpoint login credentials inside the apps and sharing this to users of the app. This is possiable using SQL connections in powerapps but seems to be unavailable when a sharpoint list is used as the datasource.

    Hi Anthony,

What you're describing is 'Elevated permissions (or privileges)' which you could do using code or SharePoint Designer workflows. If I've understood you correctly though, you theoretically should be able to achieve something similar by changing the item level permissions to the following:List-item-permissions2.png

As long as the SharePoint group that you're concerned about ONLY has Edit or Contribute permissions, then they should be able to add items to the list, but only read and edit items that they've created..... but I haven't had a chance to test & verify this in PowerApps

    Hi Geraint,

Thanks for your response, my apologies for misunderstanding your original response. The item level permission is a solution for many use cases, however it will not be suitable for my application. For example after a certin date i would like the user to no longer have permission to edit the item. how can I achieve this?
