Network error when using Patch function: The specified column is read-only and can't be modified.

I have a form that has suddenly begun having issues. The error is: Network error when using Patch function: The specified column is read-only and can't be modified.

It seemed to only be happening with single select choice columns. So I created new multi select choice columns or text columns to replace the ones that were giving errors, transferred the data and updated the app. That solved the issue for about a day. Now there are new columns giving this error. More choice columns.

I've seen a few other posts where people are dealing with this issue but haven't seen any solutions. This app is used daily and it's been pretty frustrating trying to figure out what is going on. Any help is appreciated!

@sara8 I've (had) the same issue. The only solution so far for me was to perform the following steps.

    1. Open your App

    2. Go to settings > Support

    3. Click on the pencil below "Authoring Version"

    4. Switch to an earlier version

    5. Let the App reload

    6. Repeat Steps 1-3 but now choose again the current (recommended) version

    7. Test again - the issue should be gone

Don't know yet how do deal with "Managed" solutions and apps inside those solutions... but hope this will help for the moment.

I have tried this on my app, and while it seemed to fix the issue for a couple hours it came back.

    Hi,

I am getting the same error but not for all users. Around 400 people have used my Power Apps so far and around 10-15 cases have encountered with this error. I tried researching but could not find the issue. can you please help.

    Thank you, Arun

    Hi Ann,

I switched to an earlier authoring version, per @Dominik_Nau 's suggestion. That has worked for me so far... keeping my fingers crossed. Best of luck to you!
