Message consumption details

I have a Copilot Studio agent that uses PDF files as knowledge sources. I have a few topics with both classic answers and GenAI answers. The agent is published to teams. I have given a quote from our message packed to the agent's environment.

I am trying to understand how many messages my agent is using.

I have only used the agent in the images for some tests where I used topics without GenIA answers and with GenAI answers. The overall consumption from the pre-paid message quota is 8. This makes sense.

What I don't understand is the metrics in the message consumption details. What are the different types of features (classic and message)? Overall, this graph shows 13 paid messages, which is not in line with the other graph.

I attached the images of the reports below.

    Hi

The discrepancy between the pre-paid message quota (8 messages) and the message consumption details (13 messages) can occur because the two graphs measure different types of metrics.
The pre-paid quota graph tracks only billable messages that count against your purchased capacity. In contrast, the message consumption details graph includes all interactions, such as system retries, test messages, or background actions, which might not reduce your quota.
These additional activities, particularly during testing or using both classic and GenAI answers, could explain the higher count in the detailed metrics.

Hm... I agree that there are two metrics and messages, but I still think the metrics here are confusing @SaiRT14.

If you look at the attached images, the message consumption clearly states that there are billed and non-billed messages. I would assume that the messages (like est messages or background actions) would be listed as non-billable, but the Message consumption details say there are 13 billed messages.

I would also like to understand the two Feature classes shown in the report (Classic and Message). Combining them makes 13 messages, but only eight seem to consume the quote. Why and what are the differences?

Somehow, the message consumption report is not as clear as expected, and the documentation is not detailed enough here.
