BUG: Controls jump a few pixels when clicked

(1) ShareShare

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Aggghhh! I have to report this as its been really tough on me lately.

When clicking on a Control to edit, the Control jumps a few pixels usually in the Y direction, but not always. This forces me to continually realign controls throughout the build. When dealing with large Forms, this is especially annoying.

Please consider designating this as a BUG as it was not a problem in previous versions.

Thank you

P.S. You might consider adding a "BUG" Label to the right pane of the Forum "New Message" screen.

    Hi @ericonline,

Please tell where did you encounter this issue? On a mobile or web browser? If it's former, is it iOS or Android os? If it's latter, is it IE/Chrome etc.? What is your PowerApps version number? Is it happening to all your apps or specific one? Please share your session ID if possible.

    Regards,

    Mona

I've been having the same issue in the last few days.

The issue happens in the authoring environment. When selecting a control to edit, the control will jump a few pixels. This misaligns the control and messes up any relative positioning you may have had.

    Example:

    • Label2
    • X property set to Label1.X + Label1.Width
    • When Label 2 is clicked to edit the text, it will "jump" a few pixels in the X direction
    • Now Label2.X = 134 instead of the relative position it was originally set to

This is the same thing for the Y property.

I use Chrome; happens in all my apps; I'm in West US (not sure which version of PA Web Studio I'm using).

Thanks for reporting the issue. we are working on fixing it.

currently there are two possible workarounds

1- use Edge or IE, this shouldn't happen on those two browsers (lets us know if you can see it happening there)

2- enable render in classic mode from File => AppSettings => Enable Render in classic mode

@AKotb thank you for the prompt response on this!

this should be fixed with the release 3.18074.16

please try enabling improved app rendering from App Settings and try it again

Thank you for the response @AKotb. If this is under "Experimental Features" i'd prefer NOT to enable it. I've had some rough rides with enabling these recently. I'd rather wait for the bugfix to be enabled natively.

it is under preview features now. and enabling this is equivelant to setting Render in Classic mode off, which apparently you did in the mentioned post 🙂

I just enabled the PREVIEW env. Is this staged in there as well?
