Hi just posting this here specifically-

Does anyone have any examples or experience of building a shopping cart within a Power App Portal.

One of the issues I am facing is a need to save a cart and come back and update it later across devices and just if anyone has any experience of this or suggestions.

I know there is D365 commerce, but wondering even if there is anything open source etc..

hi @Anonymous sorry about the delay, just a few things to clarify how caching works on Portals:

    • any action performed on Portal is reflected instantly on the Dataverse, there is no caching from Portals to Dataverse
    • also for any operations performed on the Portals, the cache is automatically invalidated, for example if you delete a product from the shopping cart on the Portals, it will automatically be reflect on the Portal pages
    • if you delete a product from the shopping cart on the Dataverse, then yes you will face a delay for that to be reflected on the Portals

    hope this clarifies

Hi @OliverRodrigues  How would this work do you have any ideas, would this not cause cache issues.
I have a cart button and cart page but one of the limitations seems to be caching.

    any thoughts?

Hi, you can manage that by controlling a status/stage field of your shopping cart record.

Basically as you add products, you keep the record in draft/in progress mode until they proceed with the purchase.

The record should be saved and associated with the Contact signed in, so the user will be able to view the shopping cart at any time
