Hello everyone,
I have tried to validate over 2000 rows in the excel file using UiPath and Power Automate. I have enabled the Asynchronous Response for the Return response step as the screenshot below:
I run the Power Automate within Power Virtual Agents with the chatbot, then I get the error immediately in the chat frame while the UiPath process and power automate are still running.
Could anyone take a bit of time to review and help me to resolve this issue ?
Thank you.
Best regards.
Hi @Anonymous ,
In my experience, you cannot use an async workflow with Power Virtual Agents, it's a limitation.
You have 2 minutes to return your response to your chatbot (means that your workflow needs to run within 2 minutes) and your chatbot needs to wait this response/output, you can't add it as an async response.
You can do a parallel branch in Power Automate to return directly to PVA while the asynchronous workflow continues to happen in the background. This is a better user experience as the chatbot's conversation with end user is not hosed by the workflow. You can have a topic to allow end user to check on the status of the validation later.
Hi @renatoromao ,
Thank you for your attention, I validate the 2000 rows in the excel using UiPath process, it takes many times to do this, maybe from half or one day until return the response to the Power Automate, is there any solution for this situation?
Hi @micchow ,
Thank you for your attention, in my project, I just create one PA that links with one PVA as these screenshots below:
I can't understand your solution, could you please explain this clearly again? Thanks much.
Hi @Anonymous , if I understood your scenario correctly, you are doing a large amount of data validation that can take up to hours. I would suggest in the Power Automate flow to create a parallel branch like below so the flow directly returns to PVA and the conversation between the end user and the bot is not hosed. This way you are not hitting the time out and the end user can continue to chat with the bot for other content. You can implement a topic for the end user to check the status of the validation so they can check in a couple hours.
Thank you so much for your support.
Sorry for reading your messages late, I have to keep up with the project's progress and busy with some tasks, I'll try with your solution and feedback to you soon.
I have created the parallel branch as you suggested, however, they're unable to show the Return values after the process in the parallel branch has done, like the screenshot below. Is there possible to show the result value beside the parallel branch after it has done?
Hi @Anonymous , I believe you want PVA bot to send a proactive message to the user with the result asynchronously when the process is complete. This is currently not supported yet. There are few options to consider:1. Use flow bot to post the result back to the user, this is supported with Microsoft Teams action in Power Automate.
2. Store the result and implement a topic in PVA bot so user can check the result after certain amount of time period.
Hi @micchow , I am really interested in the solution that you have suggested. However, I am rather unclear of how to implement it based on the 2 points that you have mentioned. Could you elaborate a bit as I am too facing the exact issue where my chatbot times out due to large data validation happening in the flow?
@MicRoBot , we have launched proactive message public preview since my last post.
I am assuming your scenario is user can trigger the bot to run a flow that has large data validation that takes more than 2 mins and times out. You can add parallel branch to your flow to immediately return to PVA to avoid timeout while letting the flow execute the data validation in the parallel branch. Add a send proactive message step in the flow when the data validation steps so the user will get notified when data process is completed.
