Business Rule Remains Active Despite Deactivating through Managed Solution

Hello guys,

I'm facing an issue related to Business Rules in Dynamics 365 CE/Dataverse.

Here's what I've done:

  1. In my dev environment, I deactivated a specific business rule.
  2. I then added this change to a managed solution.
  3. I imported the managed solution to the Customer's CE instance.

Despite following the above steps, when I check the Customer's CE instance, the business rule still appears to be active.

Has anyone encountered this issue before? I ensured that the import was successful, and that there were no errors in the import logs. I'm trying to avoid any direct changes to the customer's instance to maintain best practices.

Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Hi @sumen05 ,

Have you checked the solution layers in the target environment for this table?  Sometimes I have an unmanaged layer that will still take priority over the deployment of the managed solution.  See the following on how to check:  https://carldesouza.com/how-to-find-solution-layers-in-the-microsoft-power-platform/

    [Just for posterity...]

As far as I recall, it's expected behaviour that processes that already exist maintain their activated/deactivated state.

I would simply amend the rule so that if it's active it's inert, and then promote that through.  (e.g. Remove all the actions and/or make it form only on a form no-one ever uses or that doesn't even contain all the fields.)

Alternatively, if you're using Managed solutions then I believe you can delete the rule and then promote the deletion through the environments (but it's a long while since I've looked at that).
