Default New Form to Blank in Power Apps (and not 1st value of datasource or allowed values)

Hi @powerapp_Dev @Powerapp_novice @powerapp_user Power Platform Community,

Trying to set my new form to have all blank fields (like the Comments field) instead of the first Ultimate_Name in the datasource, Pillar as Property, and Approach as Grow. My app doesn't have a gallery and it always adds new rows to a dataverse table (hence the form is by default in New mode). I've tried setting all defaults for datacards and the actual form to Blank(), but isn't working. I've also tried setting the Item property of the form to Blank() and also added functions ResetForm() and NewForm() in the OnSelect() property of the Submit Button and OnSuccess() property of the form, but the form still reverts back to what I mentioned in the first sentence. Any ideas?

Your description is really confusing but if you want to reset your form after saving then simply do

    ResetForm(formname)

As this answers your question, if you wouldn't mind Marking as such and maybe a like
    Thanks!!

@Michael E. Gernaey Hi thanks for the reply. I tried to reword the post to make it easier, but unfortunately, resetting the form did not set all the data fields within the form to blank. It still has the first Ultimate Name from the data source and Pillar as Property for example.

Then to me that tells me you have either
    1) drop down controls which of course ARE going to pick the first thing as its a drop down
    2) you put expressions in the Default/Value/Text/DefaulSelectedItems etc in which case you should not because a reset New(Create) form should be blank, unless you purposely want something filled in.

@Michael E. Gernaey Thanks for your response. I do have dropdown controls. So there's no way to make them appear blank until you actually select the dropdown?

So yes and no. At least contextually. Thats why I was saying in my #1, if its a true dropdown you will have it always autoselect #1 no matter what.

Unless, you bound it to rows that have multiple fields and the field you are binding too (to view), is blank. It will LOOK like it hasn't picked anything, but in reality it picked row 1, but the field has no data.

You can try setting up a Blank variable in the on visible property of the screen and set that variable in the items property of the form.

    Try Below

    Screen OnVisible: Set(varFormItem, Blank())

    Form:
    Item: varFormItem
    DefaultMode: New
    OnSuccess: ResetForm
