Is CDS data subject to a data retention period by default?


I know that data retention policies can be setup but I can't find anything which says that CDS data is subject to a data retention policy by default so I imagine it isn't

 

However with some wording from Microsoft to that effect, the customer document I'm writing will be incomplete as they will want to know this with certainty before proceeding. I've searched for this but can't find anything specifically about CDS data (only audit logs and something about Microsoft diagnostic data retention)

 

If anyone can help, that would be greatly appreciated

    Hi @Spikyface,

    As far as I am aware, there is no retention policies set on CDS data by default. Each business and industry has their own needs when it comes to retention, so it wouldn't really make sense for MS to impose such a thing. The customer is responsible for their data and managing it using the data management capabilities in the platform. 

     

    That said, since your customer wants certainty you'd be best served opening a support ticket with Microsoft to get a direct answer.
