Bug - Network error when using patch function length must be between 0 and 100

Field type "Text" was originally set with a limit of 100 in dev-environment. Later changed to 500.

Result:
  • Patching above 100 characters works fine in DEV.
  • Patching gives error message in PROD environment: Network error when using patch function length must be between 0 and 100
Is there any solution to fix this / force a registry update?

    Hi,

How did you change it in Production? have you verified that IN production it actually says 500 now?

Thats the only reason it would keep failing, if you haven't actually deployed the change or the change didn't take because you picked the wrong option for either do an upgrade or a udpate etc.

Please show the column(s) you changed, in production so we can see. The error message itself isn';t really useful you already wrote it up.

Also did you remember to go into the App, and specifically manually refresh the DataSource for that Table? before publishing all customizations and then exporting as a managed solution?

    Cheers,

    Thank you for your reply.
    • How did you change it in Production? I changed it through columns in the table overview.

The solution to fixing patch errors in Canvas app after you've changed a text field limit from 100 to a larger number:
Remove the data source from inside your Canvas app, then re-add it. This somehow forces a full refresh of the datasource; which isn't the same as refreshing it by right-clicking on the source.

The model-driven app worked without limit issues, so that put me on the track that the app didn't know that the datafield limit had changed, even though I explicitly updated all sources and customizations.

I regard this as a bug in Power Platform and hope that Microsoft can fix this.

    Hi,

Try Verifying the Character for the field in the Dataverse Environment.
