Model-driven app templates cannot be opened

Hi Power Apps Community,

Can anyone help to resolve the issue that none of the Model-driven app templates can be opened due to the following message? For your reference, I can create apps with all other Canvas app templates.

'The sample app you selected requires an environment with a Dataverse database that also has sample data installed. To deploy the sample data you need to create a Dataverse database with the option "Deploy sample apps and data" enabled. A Dataverse database can be created by creating a new environment with a new database or by adding a database to an existing environment that does not have a database yet.'

If I go to Power Platform admin center and navigate to Environments > [Environment Name] > Settings > Data Management > sample data, it shows that sample data has been installed successfully as below, so hence, I don't have a clue where to fix the issue so as to be able to create apps using Model-driven app templates.

Note: I already have a couple of Dataverse tables created in my Power Apps admin account.

    Hi @TNAR ,

    We faced the similar issue in the past in trial environment.

    But now works fine for me. Please try again if you are also accessing in trial.

    @DeviKrishna

    Thanks for your response.

    Would you be able to explain the root cause of this issue?

    Following your suggestion, I created another new trial environment with a Dataverse database (with the same version 9.2.23063.00172), which didn't resolve the issue, although my user tied to this environment had sufficient roles (i.e. Environment Maker, System Administrator and System Customizer) to access and edit all model-driven apps within the environment.

    In addition, I have enough active licenses assigned to my user at Azure AD level in order to use Power Apps Platform services as below.

    However, I figured that I had the following subscription status which I assumed could be the cause of the issue...?

    Would you be able to kindly advise as this is the only remaining factor that I can think of?

    Thanks for your response.

    Would you be able to explain the root cause of this issue when you that you faced before?

    Following your suggestion, I did create another new trial environment with a Dataverse database (with the same version Dataverse version 9.2.23063.00172), but the issue persists as you can see all those model-driven app templates are greyed out as below.

    TNAR_0-1690336314997.png

    For your reference, my user tied to the new environment has sufficient roles to access and edit all model-driven apps within the environment.

    On the other hand, I checked the Active Directory configuration from Microsoft Entra admin center and confirmed that I have enough licenses assigned to my user, however, it looks like that my user has no subscription in the directory. I am wondering if this can be the exact root cause of this issue?

    Hi @TNAR ,

    Once you create a trial and make sure you have access to admin power platform,

    Login to https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/environments

    create new environment( trial) and make sure you select the "Deploy sample apps and data" value to yes.

    By doing this I was able to enable those sample model driven apps.

    @DeviKrishna

    Can you please navigate Home > Start with an app template > Other app templates: Fundraiser / Innovation Challenge / Asset Checkout in the test environment and share the screenshot where those templates are enabled?

    The page that you showed the templates were not the right location that I was referring to.

    Thanks for your response.

    As I described at the message 4, the issue persisted even I created another environment with the option enabled.

    Have reached out to Microsoft Unified Support for further investigation.

    Kind regards,
    Tsui
