I've looked but I only find options using the gateway.
Here is the issue. We have a D365 app that is being migrated to a Model Driven power app. Currently, there is a 3rd party application that has a view to a table in the D365 application.
What the D365 app does is it has an export data button that pretty much fills a table. The 3rd party app has a view to that table, pulls the data and moves on.
Now that the D365 app is moving to PA, it doesn't have access to that table on the sql server to write to. (unless we add a sql connector and gateway, from what I understand) Though using the gateway may be an option, getting that passed cyber, ops, etc... can be brutal.
Is there anyway that SQL Server on premise can connect to the dataverse to just pull data. technically, the Model Driven app doesnt need to connect or pull anything from the sql server db. Or even have to know about it.
Is there a way to do a linked server type of thing to PA from sql server?
or is the only way to go is using the Gateway and connector?
thanks
Hey jdkman2,
i just stumbled about your post after reading the Realease Wave Plan for 2023.
There seems to be a function like this planned for September 2023:
When makers familiar with relational, tabular data think about writing queries, they think about writing those queries in SQL. Makers who are proficient with the SQL language can quickly and easily write familiar queries against Dataverse tables in order to explore data and metadata. This is an additional way that we are making it easy and straightforward for makers to work with and explore their data in Dataverse.
