The mystery of the missing ribbon bar New button.

I have got a weird situation which I finding difficult resolving.  One of the tables in our unmanaged solution is now missing the New button on the ribbon bar.  Ironically, we have had discussions within the project team about the best approach for hiding buttons: XRMToolBox Ribbon bar edits or custom security role. However, we have yet to agree on the approach. If we know what was done to hide the button, we could undo it!

I have loaded the table into a separate unmanaged solution then opened this in the XRMToolbox Ribbon editor and as you can

see there are no hidden ribbon buttons ..

I have also looked at my security access  (sys admin) in relation to the table

So I am bit of a loss as to what do do next😕 other than recreate the table

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @westerdaled

Have you checked if a user with System Administrator is able to see the New Button?  Is this what you are saying above that you checked with sys admin above?

Are you sure you are looking at the right menu?  The menu you are showing is an Activity menu vs. a standard table, doesn't look correct...

    Hi @dpoggemann

    Thanks for responding.

I am a sys admin and still can't see the new button.

The menu is above the main view screen for the table. The table has been set as an activity table but I am not sure how this impacts the menu. Although, you do raise an interesting point.

Note most of the rows in the table are created by a flow which is why the project team did not immediately notice the missing button.

Will take another look at this issue in the morning.

    Hi @westerdaled ,

If this is an activity table you do not see the specific "New" button, you will see the list of the different activity types (including as you see Email, Task, etc.) and when you click on that it will create that type of activity.  You should see your "custom" activities in the "Other Activities" dropdown and when you click on it then you can create that specific activity.

    Hi @westerdaled,

When you create an Activity type table, you will not have the ability to select the Make this table an option when creating a new Activity.  This will be grayed out on an Activity type table, see below.

You can also configure the timeline component to show which activities are available to create within that component, see the following article:  https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/model-driven-apps/set-up-timeline-control

If you look at the table in the Maker Portal you should see the type listed as Activity if it is an Activity type table:

    Hi @dpoggemann

Yes, I just noticed I hadn't created an Activity table - was about to delete my last post but you got there first.  I will try again. Thanks for the heads up.

    @dpoggemann

Yes,you are 100% correct - currious, I am able to add a timeline to standard table 😁.

Ok, created a new activity table and "New" record option is effectivley opening the Main Form (FormMode.New) via the Other Activities Menu .

However, when I go back to the original table in my client's MD app,  I am missing the main form option.

    Hi @westerdaled

Yes, you should be able to add the timeline control to a standard table's form, this is the primary use case...  If you enable the table for Activities then it will allow you to show the timeline and it will then create 1:N relationship to any activities you create related to that table.

Do you have that table added to the MD app sitemap?

Hi , thanks for explaining activities attached to a standard verses activity table.

Ok, the main form for my table is definitely in the left navigation (site map) when I edit the mda.

I will create a temp activity table and add the main form to the site map, to see how this compares.

I have added a new activity table to the solution and updated the site map.  The main form for this table is available via the Other Activities menu.  So it looks like I need to edit the Other Activities menu on the errant table, to re-re-add the Main menu link.
