Bug with the agent in Teams Chat if the combined character length exceeds 2000 characters

Hi!
I have come across an error.
I have given my agent instructions with a length of 1997 characters. These are probably to be understood as a system prompt for the agent:
If I ask this agent a question directly in the Copilot Studio in the test scenario, everything is fine.
However, if I ask him a question in the Teams Chat, in which I have integrated this agent, the question must not be longer than 3 characters. Here 4 different character lengths, with 3 characters it works:

Here is the message:
Fehlercode:
OpenAIAdditionalInstructionsLengthExceededLimit Unterhaltungs-ID: a:1sY3P-Oeu3hH2IxJrp9ka_nBsl7a-xRKpl0H87mk55i9e2YSWLC_xcnA5GF1UZW1zQjn0RyMbImYYqJjIMFnI0TY0sjvxgvABTj7CUtLKIbj7z-yKLMRIhwRXXVsHTQHk Zeit (UTC): 2024-10-25T20:09:35.547Z.

An indication of the character length of a prompt to be entered and a blockade if this is exceeded would be helpful.
It is also possible to enter more than 2000 characters in the instructions in the Studio. In this case, the field is outlined in red, but the indication of the exceeded character length is not clearly understandable. In my opinion, blocking the entry of more than 2000 characters would be easier to understand.
Or is there another explanation for the bug?

Best regards!

    Hello Aerosus,

you're 100% correct - the limitation on the system prompt seems to be also enforced on the user prompt, so it's not a bug. Here's a doc for that, under "Capabilities" section:
I do also think that it's not clear enough that it applies to both system and user prompt.

In case of any other questions, let me know. If the answer is correct, mark it, so that others can benefit from it.

    Best regards,

    @Artur Stepniak,

How come it says 8000 character limit for instructions when configuring your Agent here?

    Hello,

the docs that you've provided are related to building an "extension" agent to M365 Copilot. It's something different as it's only used in the context of M365 Copilot (you can read more about agent paradigm here: https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/computer-science/agent-paradigm - in general it's all about autonomous models, each one with a specific role) , but I understand that it's a bit confusing. I guess we need to wait a little bit for clarification. :-)

    Best regards,
