    The only way to add a file to the control is with the "Attach file" (or whatever you want to change the text to) button.

    From the out of box controls,, I agree with @WarrenBelz
    Fire it from a button control seems not possible for now.

    Shane's method still uses the attachment control - just makes most of it transparent with a dummy icon behind it.
