Unable to customise Model Driven App subgrid command bar button

Hello I am a newbie to Power App. I am working on a Model Driven App Project now.

I tried to add a button in the command bar in the subgrid of a form. Unfortunately it does not appear.

Also tried to add a button in the main form and succeeded. Seems like only subgrid is not showing my newly added button.

Could anyone kindly provide some hint for me to fix the issue? Thanks in advance!

I have the same question (0)

Are you using Ribbonworkbench ? ensure that you add button for subgrid on the target entity.

    something related

    Thank you for your reply!

I was just trying to add button by the command bar designer.

I added 2 buttons in the "XXXEntryApplications" entity subgrid view, one named "Add Staff From List" and one totally new default "NewCommand" button.

Even the "NewCommand" button is not showing on the subgrid.

But the command buttons in the main form can be added by the same way.

(Sorry since this is a company project I have to hide some naming and information)

    • Make sure your command has a definition; it won't show up if the Action formula is empty.
      • Notify("hello world') is probably a good test formula for you
    • Then save and publish your changes.
    • Then hard refresh your app (usually Ctrl + F5).
    • Then wait a couple seconds to see the "A new version of this app is available" banner.
    • Then hard refresh again.

If you don't get the app update banner, you may have to go up to the App editor level and publish changes there.

If none of that works, sometimes there are errors in the component library that don't surface in the command editor window. Use the button in the upper right to edit the commands directly in the Component Library and you may see errors there that didn't show up int the Command editor window.

    Thank you for answering!

The "Add Staff From List" button was having some action but to keep it simple I just remove it first.

Now I added the notify action and only this "NewCommand" button is present at this subgrid now. Unfortunately the button does not appear after I hard refresh the page (The new version banner has disappeared).

Tried to check the command library but seems no error suggesting. I have also clicked the recheck all button.

Is there any other possibilities that make the button not working? :'(

@windywong sorry for responding after a long pause due to travel. Based on my personal experience, 'Command bar designer' is not mature enough. So I recommend to use Ribbon Workbench

I see. Thank you for your advice!

I tried to use the Ribbon Workbench to add buttons in the command bar.

Looks like only the button in the form is shown, but not working in subgrid.

Actually I have also tried to hide the out-of-box "Add" buttons in the subgrid but they are still there too.

    Any help will be appreciated!

    are you doing the following?

    - editing in the correct app where the button should be visible?
    - editing the command bar for the entity of the subgrid?

    - editing the subgrid view of the command bar?

try without any visibility rules to validate it added then add conditions.

Silly me. I edited the buttons on the parent entity but not the child entity and also need to add some command to the buttons to make it appearing. Thank you for all of your kindness!
