License question for model-driven app Powerapp

Hello Guru,

I have a question about licensing for model-driven apps. I already have a Sales Hub app that uses only standard tables. I want to create 02 model-driven app (both maybe could have some power automate to run and power bi to embebbed in)

  1. The first one has the same data as the Sales Hub app.
  2. The 2nd one only Contact, Account, and about 20 custom tables.

What license do I need to buy for the users of the new app in these two scenarios?

I have heard conflicting opinions. Some say I need the Power Apps license for the assigned users + Sales Enteprise License and others say I need the Sales Enterprise license is enough

Kindly help me to define the correct license needed. Thank you for your help.

    Hi @viet561995 ,

Currently which licenses are you using for D365 Sales Hub?
Coming to which license would help, I'd say 'Sales Enterprise' license is enough as per Licenses guide (do check them out) will be sufficient for creating multiple Model-Driven Apps while also having ability to create Canvas Apps.

You can also get Power Automate licenses with them and you can use Power BI free version but for Power BI Pro, you need to purchase additional license for BI.

If you use D365 Professional then you might have a problem as you may not get 20 custom tables and few other restrictions as well. I think its restricted to 15 Custom tables. It is safe to say Enterprise will benefit you than PowerApps/Professional license.

    Hope this helps

    Hi @Ethan_R

Thanks for clarifying about custom entities! I understand Enterprise allows for many more than Professional (250+ vs. 15). However, my main question concerns app creation.

If I build a small set of Model-Driven Apps (around 1 or in the future 10) using just 20 custom entities, will my users need additional licenses beyond their Sales Enterprise licenses to access these apps? Or will Sales Enterprise alone be sufficient?

Again thank you for your help!
