PowerApps SQL connection

Hi There

I am currently busy with a project that requires SQL connection and SQL requires premium license. I need to read/write to SQL as my SQL dB has formulas attach to it filter and delagate my data. I tried using MS Access as a bridget between SQL and SharePoint but my datasource can only write to Access dB and it doesn't update SQL dB although a connecting has been made through ODBC from SQL to Access. I could write into SQL using PowerAutomate but I need to get the data back once it has been filtered and delagted in my SQL dB. I did research and they said that Excel to SQL is not robust so if anyone has any idea on what I can do please let me know.

The premium license is the way to goi but I just want to know if we don't have another way as the app cost will play a vital part in it going live or not.

I have the same question (0)

I can't think of a way you can really avoid the premium connector. I have used it, and it works great and is very simple to use.

The only way I can think of otherwise is like you said to go into excel, or some other microsoft product like lists to then go to sql.

Personally, I think you need to bite the bullet, but if it is really worth it I would look into using microsoft lists or saving to sharepoint. I really do not like working with data in either of those products, but it might be the solution for you if you really want to try it.

    Hi There

    Thanks for your feedback.

Unfortunately Excel is not robust enough for my application.

I will just need to bite the bullet on this one.

Yeah it will suck - there are ways to avoid the licensing by just licensing one user and using that user for the application and things like that that can cut down cost - all of which are just inconvenient.

Thanks for the feedback all. For this project I will use SharePoint with MS Access to atleast get the project up and running. It's not best practice and the PowerApp License model is very inconvenient for any projects.
