So, This is REALLY annoying behaviour of the PowerApps Studio...
I have a Gallery, and the template contains about 10 labels referring to data in each Item - and some labels have fairly complex formulas.
However, If I edit the Gallery.Items expression (for example, to simple add another filter), the PowerApps studio COMPLETELY WIPES OUT all my Label Formulas, and resets them to "What it thinks"... (usually the first X fields of the collection)
Seeing as I don't quite remember what each formula is, I have no option but to restore a previous version, and do all my changes again.
Also, I can't see any way to stop this behaviour, so If i want to edit the Gallery.Items expression, I have to copy or write down all my Label formulas so that I can put them back into the Labels after editing the Gallery.Items.
Actually - It's a good job I even noticed, as It would be entirely possible for me to tweak the Gallery.Items formula for an App and then Save/Publish, without spotting that all the Label formulas have been erased.
What's next? Is Microsoft Word going to just decide that it doesn't like what I wrote in my letter, and is just going to change it to something else without asking me?
Is Excel just going to remove a load of data and change all my formulas because it has decided I should see something different?
Does VS or VSCode just unilaterally change or remove portions of code for your project?
WHY is it OK for the PowerApps Studio to REMOVE MY CODE without asking ?
Please Microsoft, fix this ridiculous behaviour! This is UNACCEPTABLE!
James.
@james_hathaway - thanks for posting this. I agree it's an annoying bug and I hope that Microsoft fix it.
For the benefit of anyone at MS who might be reading this, here's another post that describes this behaviour.
