Filter Data from CDS in Model-Driven Apps

Hello Everyone,

I am working on Model-Driven apps and I want to create one View for the single entity but I am facing few issues which are described below.

I have an entity whose name is Employee and also I have an Employee module. I want to show the employee record from Employee entity but there is one condition that the record will display only related to the currently logged-in user, Is it possible in Model-Driven apps to apply filter based on logged in user, If 'Yes' then how?

Note: logged-in user name will also exist in the Employee entity.

Please help me to resolve this issue. I would be thankful for you.

Thanks & Regard's

Vaibhav

    Hi @Vaibhav_Shukla

To create this, you can add a view with the filter to corresponds to current logged-in user. You can use a lookup field pointing to User entity to select the option "equal current user".

When the above view is saved and published, you can add it to your Model Driven App.

    Hope this Helps!

    Hi @yashag2255

Do you know if there is a manual page of this

I cannot find how / where to filter the data ( for example : account specific by salesperson) like canvas; model driven app seems very lacking resources

I had the same trouble @luuminhvuong93 . You've probably found it by now but just in case, it's actually in the operator drop down. Once you are in the edit view area, make sure you open up the filter window:

I did some testing and this appears to be functioning exactly how you would expect.

    Hope this helps.

Is there a way to do it without System columns?

For example I have to find if a Custom Text Column contains the current user full name.

I believe the current user option is only available for columns that are based on the 'systemuser' table, based on my quick testing just now. In one of my tables, I have a custom text column with their textual name and a lookup column to their systemuser record to address any shortcomings with the text name column in automations, reports etc.

I imagine you could filter the systemuser column while only showing the text column in a custom view.

    Yep...
I have a text column with several names per row in Model Driven. So I have to filter those rows that contains the current user full name in this column. This is to avoid users to see all records.

    Example:

    Additional User column:

    Mark Thompson; Valery Dominguez; Debora Dietrich;
