I have 2 environments:-
1) Dev
2) PROD
I have 2 SharePoint sites:-
1) Dev
2) PROD
now last week, i did the following:-
1) Export the solution which contain 1 power apps + 55 power automate flows + 90 environment variables as managed solution from Dev environment.
2) Import the managed solution to PROD environment, using the Upgrade option.
I get those major problems:-
1)the 90 environment variables on the PROD environment, were updated and start referring to the Dev SharePoint site instead of the RPOD SharePoint site (as they use to be before the upgrade)
2) the 55 workflows get turned off
so i went to the default solution inside the PROD and update all the 90 environment variables to refer tot he prod SharePoint site + i went to the imported solution and turn the workflows on.
today i modified the power apps on Dev + 5 workflows on Dev >> then i tried the Update option instead of the Upgrade, and i found the following improvements:-
1) the Update took around 2 minutes instead of around 20 minutes for the Upgrade.
2) the environment variables on PROD did not get updated and still refer to the prod SharePoint site
3) the workflows did not get turn off..
so why i should use Upgrade? and can i always rely on the Update option when importing the managed solutions ?
Thanks

If you remove the objects in the solution, the update doesn't remove those in the target environment. You need to upgrade it.
