get data from on-prem Dynamics in canvas app

I have a canvas app in Power Apps for Teams. I want to read data from an on-premise MS Dynamics instance via the web api.

Issues

  • Teams uses a different Active Directory than our on-prem D365.
  • web api to our D365 is fire-walled
  • I can't use on-premise data gateway because I don't have access to an "always on" computer to run the gateway
  • I tried using the HTTP Azure connector, but it insists on using the cloud AD instead of the on-prem AD to authenticate

Questions

  • Can I use the D365 web api?
  • Do I need a connector?
    • which one?
    • if it's HTTP Azure connector, how do I make it use our on-prem AD to authenticate?

Thanks

    Hi @JenniferK

There is a possibility to use your Web API endpoint of Dataverse to get the data from the any table:

    1. Click on Settings:

    2. Then click on "Developer resources:

    3. use the OData feed connector to select and get the table data.

    Hope this helps.

I have the web api endpoint. But I can't find the OData feed connector you mentioned. In PowerApps for Teams, it does not appear to be possible to add a connector directly.  It has to be done from inside a canvas app. And when I search for "OData feed connector", all I find is "Jedox Odata Hub" which doesn't work for this.

    What am I missing?

    Hi @JenniferK

I misunderstood that your gonna use the web API in PowerApps for Teams.

You are going to need a custom connector or Power Automate for this.
