Send an email based on lookup choice selected

I have a table in Dataverse with a dropdown choice called "Send email to" which looks up to a table called Email list containing the names and email addresses of individuals.

"Main table" -> Dropdown contains list of names (lookup column)

Lookup table called "Email list" -> Name and Emails

Depending on the name selected from the Main table form, the form gets submitted to the appropriate email address. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to do this. Only a couple of weeks new to Powerapps. Please help!

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @Mikello-6626,

Based on the issue that you mentioned, do you want to send email to the corresponding name based on the dropdown selected name ?

Could you please share a bit more about your scenario?

I have a test on my side, please take a try as below:

Set the OnSelect property of the Combo Box corresponding to the "Send email to" as below:

    Office365Outlook.SendEmailV2(
     LookUp(
     EmailLists,
'Name ' = DataCardValue5.Selected.'Name '// 'Name ' is the column to store user names
).Emails, // Emails is the column in the EmailLists to store email address
     "TestSubject",
     "Just Dance"
    )

    Check if this could help.

    Regards,

    Qi

I am actually doing this with model driven apps, not canvas apps

    Hi @Mikello-6626

With model-driven apps, the best practices is to achieve this with Power Automate. Here's an example:

    1. The first step is the trigger on the Main Table. Make sure you configure it to the desired trigger/logic.
    2. The 2nd step, is retrieve the appropriate Email list row based on the lookup value from the Main table. Suggest you put some error handling so ensure there's a value before retrieving.
    3. 3rd step is the send email where the "To" is the email text column from the Email list row.

    Hope this helps!
