I create a new power app. Put a component on a form. Later when I come back to the power app platform, my power app has not been saved and I have to re-create the app. Does anyone know what is happening?
Did you save and publish it using the File menu? Power Apps don't save automatically.
@kaswiere
You need to save the Power App before leaving/closing the browser. Did you save/publish it before leaving?
Power Apps can also periodically save the app every 2 minutes. If you have saved the app once, Power Apps will continue to save a version of the app periodically without requiring the user to press or tap the Save action. Authors can enable or disable the Auto save setting from the Account tab on the File menu.

I have created power apps in other environments and they saved away automatically. For some reason in the environment I am working in now the app doesn't get saved. Is there a permission that controls this?
There is an AutoSave setting in the Account tab of the File menu inside the app. That may have been turned off. I'm also not sure that works until you save it the first time.
I have auto save turned on.
Hi @kaswiere ,
As @ RezaDorrani mentioned in this thread:
“
PowerApps will do autosave only after you save it once (when you first create the App)
If you do not save it the first time and your browser crashes or times out, you lose all your work
”
So after creating a new app, make sure you have saved the app once. Then autosave function will work.
Note: By default, if you minimize the window and do something else, autosave will not work(not matter how long). Only when you stay in the app page for at least 2 mins, autosave function will work.
Best Regards,
Allen
I was trying to save a power app in a gov tenant accessing the power app from create.powerapps.com. I instead needed to use gov.create.powerapps.com
