When editing some of my older apps (created ~2 years ago), I'm now seeing a property for the App object called "OnMessage" (see below) that I don't recall being there before. I've done the usual searching through documentation, but can't find any reference to this property, so I'm trying to figure out what it does/what it's for. Any ideas??
I suspect it may have something to do with this idea that was submitted in 2017. I was also unable to find documentation for the OnMessage property

That is indeed a new property that is in the process of being rolled out as an alternative to OnStart. When it first rolled out in May, 2021 it mistakenly replaced the OnStart property. That bug has now been fixed and both OnStart and OnMessage are available. Here's a discussion of the "Bug" Power Apps Guide - Bug - OnStart property missing from designer - impossible to set OnStart formula - Power Apps Guide - Blog
There isn't any real documentation available for it yet.
Given the idea post from 2017, it would go a long way towards explaining not only the OnMessage property but the OnError property.
Maybe to take input from an error or a message from a Flow and then do something in the app.
Who knows..................
