Concat a dropdown field value and a text field value

I've tried a variety of formulas to get a drop down field and a text field to Concat within PowerApps. Two of the more promising formulas I've used thus far:

Text = fx: Concatenate(StateSelect.Selected.Value,"-",CodeSelect.Value)
Text = fx: StateSelect.Selected.Value & CodeSelect.Text
I'm still getting errors.
If you have suggestions, I'd love to hear them

This is possibly related to the data type of the items in the StateSelect dropdown.

In the formula bar, if you type StateSelect.Selected. - is Value the only property that you can select?

If so, if you StateSelect.Selected.Value. - are there any additional properties you can select after Value?

Value is the only thing I can select, and nothing else is offered after value

If you just enter StateSelect.Selected.Value, does the value "AZ" appear or do you get an error?

Can you show us the content in property "DisplayFields" for StateSelect control?
