Is it possible to have "---Select---" as default selected value of dropdown?

Yes. However, you will need to make sure that you have "---Select---" in the Items of your dropdown.
What is your current Items property?

Items property is SQL table column. I would be surprised if there is no other way than adding it to SQL table?
No need to add it to the table, but it needs to be introduced at the Items property of the control.
So, what is the Items property of the dropdown? And if it is just a table, what column are you displaying in the dropdown?
Items = Table1.Col1
