Unable to set Improve data source experience and Microsoft Dataverse views option

I get the  warning message "Please turn on ‘Improve data source experience and Microsoft Dataverse views’ prior to enabling this app setting." when opening Canvas app preferences. MSFT refers to enabling this in the General settings but that option does no longer exist in my versions of PowerApps (i do recall setting this some months back):

I also tried removing all data connections and adding them again, with no result. Has anyone an idea on solving this?

If this is an old app or an app built on one of microsoft templates there are a couple settings you need to enable before htis will appear,

go to retired tab and turn ON relational data, option sets, and other new features for microsoft dataverse

next go to preview and turn ON Use column display names

now you should be able to turn on the improve datasoruce experience

Hi @TheRobRush : The option "relational data, option sets, and other new features for microsoft dataverse" and "Use column display names" are both not available on any of the tabs. I tried switching off all dataverse related options, but also that did not solve the issue.

Search, then turn on, as Rob said, I just imported a really old app to test. The option will stop showing up once it is turned on.

The not-so-easy method (if above is not working) is to download the App, extract the file that has the flags for features, and replace those with the same values as a new blank app, then rebuild it and open in the editor

    - blog on that is here

    Cheers!

@iAm_ManCat @TheRobRush  Thanks for all the good suggestions. The search option is not working, so I resorted to creating a new canvas app and copying over the feature settings. That did not resolve the problem and it turns out that the new created app has exactly the same problem:  once you add a dataverse table, save the app, open it and then go to the settings, there is the same message. That got me thinking, what setting did I change in the test app? As it turn out the problem is triggered when you enable "automatically create environment variables when adding data sources"  and then save and re-open the app. I now disabled this setting for the app.

We have the same issue here with a number of older apps that are being moved to solutons.   "automatically create environment variables when adding data sources" does not work for old apps, and it doesn't seem possible to make the selections requested due to them no longer being visible.   It shouldn't be necessary to manually update AppPreviewFlagsMap on each of these to rectify

Thanks the solution from @iAm_ManCat worked for me.

Hi, This is still a thing for brand new apps with this setting applied from the very start of building the app. Have turned it off, not using any connections in this app anyway, for now... When I have used SharePoint previously, it always prompts, so I guess I just select in the prompt for the same result? Better not slip up!
