Power Apps on Android (Kiosk mode) – Multi-user support options?

Hi Community,

We have developed a Canvas App for warehouse users using Dataverse and Dynamics 365. The app has been deployed in Kiosk mode on Android tablets for user testing.

  • During testing, we identified the following challenge:
  • Power Apps on Android tablets does not support multi-user scenarios
  • In our warehouse setup, the same tablet is shared across shifts
  • After one user’s shift ends, the tablet is handed over to the next user

However, Power Apps on Android appears to support only a single signed-in user per device, which creates operational issues

We would like to understand:

  1. Are there any supported options or workarounds to enable a multi-user experience for Power Apps on Android (e.g., device settings, app configuration, or Power Platform approaches)?
  2. Has anyone successfully implemented shared-device or shift-based usage with Power Apps on Android?
  3. Would switching to iPad (iOS) provide better support for multi-user or shared-device scenarios, based on your experience?
  4. Are there any recommended best practices from Microsoft for this type of warehouse/kiosk use case?

Any guidance, recommendations, or real-world experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
Parag

I may be missing something in your requirements here, but if user 1 signs out of Power Apps, then user 2 can sign in using their credentials. If you are asking about concurrent "switchable" sessions, then no, the mobile app (Android or iOS) does not support this.

However if both users are properly licenced, there is nothing to stop you having a login on the main Power Apps screen using credentials stored in a Dataverse table - this will not solve the underlying created/modified credentials, but you could certainly store these in other fields in the relevant table/s.

    Shared Device Mode
Microsoft’s Shared Device Mode (SDM) allows frontline workers to sign in or out of Power Apps and other Microsoft products in a single step, providing convenience, efficiency, and security for workers who frequently hand off shared devices. (e.g. on shift change).
This feature is particularly useful for industries like retail, healthcare and manufacturing where multiple users share devices, often within a shift with tight time constraints. When Power Apps users have finished with their shift or task, they can sign out once and they will be immediately signed out of all supported apps and the device will be ready for the next employee to use. The simplicity of this flow improves frontline workers’ experience and operational efficiency. This feature is available beginning with the 3.23052.18 version of Power Apps.
