Hello,
I've been experiencing an issue in my current Project for the Web application and I'am seeking your assistance to troubleshoot it.
Specifically, when I create custom columns in a project that's been created in the Project for the Web application, I find that these new columns are not visible in the msdyn_projecttask table (the dataverse table where the tasks are beeing stored). I have checked thoroughly, ensuring that the spelling, format, and settings of these new fields are correct, but they simply don't appear in the table.
Could someone please guide me on how to retrieve these columns and their associated information? Is there a specific process or steps that I might be missing?
Furthermore, I'm curious about the feasibility of constructing a Power Automate flow to fetch and write data into these custom columns. If anyone has any experience or insights to share on building such a flow, that would be incredibly beneficial.
I'm eager to solve this problem and improve my overall application functionality. I appreciate any help or guidance you can offer in advance.
Best regards,
Make doubly sure you are connecting to the right dataverse instance as the Microsoft Project (get your Instance URL from âš™ > Session Details) you can see which projects are local by loading up Project from Apps > All Apps > Project from the Maker Portal.I would then make a custom view of the table (New> View) and see if the data is showing up there. If you would then like to add this to a Power BI visual read on:Get Data > Dataverse > Instance URLThen make sure you are using the actual name for the columns. To find this go to Schema > Columns from the maker portal and look for the Name Column there (NOT Display Name)Then select the correct table, transform data and then Choose Columns > Choose Colums and see if you can find the named columns from before.
Take Care,
Dan
My objective is connect Project for the Web into Power BI and Be able to see the Custom Columns I added in Project for the Web (example: City). All my task for all my projects have a city field filled in for each task.
I am able to see all connect all my Project for the Web Projects into PowerBI via the "Project for the Web Power BI Template". When requested for Dataverse URL when the Template opens, I type it in, then hit LOAD. This builds all the charts in the Template. What I can't figure out is how to edit any of the worksheets in such a manner to be able to add my custom column so it can be seen, to all me to build a filter/slicer using the custom column data.
So the question is "How can I see my custom column via "Project for the Web Power BI Template" or how can I gracefully direct connect my Project for the Web Projects into Power BI w/o using the template.
thanks

Custom columns made in Project for the Web are sadly not possible to use elsewhere.
You can only use custom data added at a power apps level (this is per project but different interface)
If you go to make.powerapps.com, Tables, Project and add a column there you can in Power BI transform data go to the project table and remove all steps after Navigation to see all your columns which can be used.
Thanks....I will let you know how it goes... 🙂
