Activating or deactivating records in a many to many relationship

I am trying to build a solution which has an Employee table and a Roles table. Each employee can have a number of roles and each role can have a number of employees related to it. I was planning to use the status code to determine if the role or employee is to be included in a forward forecast based on the status code. At the moment I can either deactivate the employee or the role but not the combination of position and role. I have tried to use views and forms with subgrids but cannot find a way to deactivate or reactivate the particular combination shown below. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

    Hi @Finman999 ,

I would setup a data model like the following to accomplish your needs which will be easier to manage and allow you to have metadata on the employee and role relationships...

The Roles can then be activated / inactivated and the employees can be activated / inactivated independently and you can have the Employee Role table with the ability for the Employee to have multiple roles and a role with multiple employees assigned.  You will also be able to add fields on the Employee Role table around start date, end date, etc. if required.
