Dataverse for Teams interface with business central

Hi there, we have just moved to Microsoft 365 A3 licences for Education within which we get the Power apps including Dataverse for Teams. We are now looking at possibly purchasing the Business Central package to manage our finances, etc. My question is if we build our base data - student details, etc. in Dataverse for Teams would Business Central be able to connect to that and use the data or would we need to purchase the full blown version of Dataverse?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @Stevejm ,

Since Dataverse for Teams would be generated automatically in a special stand-alone environment, and in Power Apps it is not supported to connect to tables created in this dataverse, I presume D365 is supposed to be the same. However, with D365 license assigned to users, they will be able to connect to Dataverse tables in Teams App( if you have created the connections when creating the App in Teams).

I'm not quite sure about above conclusion, maybe you could confirm in the D365 community:

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response. So if we wished to move to business central we would need to migrate from Dataverse for Teams to the fully fledged version of Dataverse?

    Hi @Stevejm,

Based on my understanding in the licensing you would not be able to integrate the information in the Dataverse for Teams to Business Central unless you purchase an applicable Power Apps or Power Automate license that will allow you to run flows to integrate the data between the systems.  If you had a Power Automate Per User license you should be able to integrate between the Dataverse for Teams and the Business Central environments.

    Example of licensing details:

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks,

    Drew

Did you mean to accept mine as the solution?  If not, no worries...

    Thanks!
