I've created a table in teams dataverse. I want it to lookup to a table in my default environment. How do I achieve this?
ie I want the related table options to include tables from another environment.thanks
Hi @mrpowergage ,
Not possible, sorry. All tables must be in same environment. Also, be careful utilizing tables in your Default Environment in general. The Default Environment can. not be copied, backed up, etc. See details here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/environments-overview#the-default-environment
Hope this helps. Please accept if answers your question or Like if helps in any way.
Thanks,
Drew
thanks @dpoggemann what would you suggest as the best way to reference / work with our core client table (which I will move out of our default environment, thanks)? Is it to create an automation to copy the records to a duplicate table. Or would you recommend a field that is a link to the record in our core table? Or to create all the data in the dataverse, and stear clear of dataverse for teams entirely? Or something else? many thanks
You can only create relationships between entities in the same environment. Overall if it is not a licensing issue I would just go with the full Dataverse because you will probably run into limitations soon around what you can do within a Dataverse for Teams environment (especially around security) - See the following for details (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/teams/data-platform-compare)
From what I read (have not tried) you should be able to integrate from a full Dataverse environment to Dataverse for Teams but not sure the other way... See here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/teams/data-platform-compare#integration
The FAQ has some good information as well... https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/teams/data-platform-faqs
