Hello, are code components for Microsoft Dynamics 365 considered Model oder Canvas driven?I always assumed that since Microsoft Dynamics 365 first party Apps (wether its sales, customer service or field service) are Model driven Apps, that the code components for I create for Microsoft Dynamics 365 are also code component for an model driven app (Microsoft Dynamics 365).best regards!
Hi @TheTruePowerDev ,
Dynamics 365 are solutions on top of model-driven apps, so yes, the PCFs used on forms or views are for model-driven apps.
But the Power Platform is driving towards Converged Apps, where we don't have to decide if we want a Model-Driven or a Canvas App. A step in this direction are already the CustomPages for Model-Driven Apps. The PCFs used there are similar with the ones for Canvas Apps, but have a little more features. But that's the future.
Was this the info you were looking for?
OK I see..., thank you very much for the fast response! Is there any way to import Canvas Apps into Dynamics 365?kind regards
Yes. Here is a link to what @DianaBirkelbach is talking about: Converge model-driven and canvas apps using the custom page - Power Apps | Microsoft Docs
Besides Custom Pages (which are in preview for now), you can still use Embeeded Canvas Apps.
The PCFs have the advantage that can be used both in CansvasApps and Model-Driven Apps. It depends on your use case.
