Dataverse Virtual Entity with SQL Server

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to use a connection reference of the type Azure AD Integrated to set up a SQL server virtual entity in Dataverse? 

Sometimes I read it should be possible, but I can't get it to work and I don't have the option to use SQL server authentication.
