Configuring permissions for CD- creating item not working

Hey all,

My users have an E1 license with PP1 plan. I am wanting to launch an app that uses a custom entity in CDS but when I test it with a user account they can view all the data just fine, but cannot seem to create an item. I have adjusted the security settings for custom entities as best I can but that doesn't seem to have done anything. Any thoughts?

Hi @TorreyFalconer ,

It would be good if you could provide some more details about this:
What type of Power App are you using - Canvas or Model-driven?
Are there any errors shown when the user tries to create a new item?
Can you share a screenshot of the Security Role that the user has and the privilege settings for the custom entity?
Basically, the following set up will allow a user to create a new record for your custom entity
A Security Role that has Create privileges for the custom entity
The Security Role is assigned to the user

Hey @HSheild ! Thanks for your reply.

The app is a canvas app, and no errors come up at all. I tested the app as well with my own account and know that the submit button works fine, so I that is what I find to be mind boggling.

See the attached photos for how I have the permissions set....the 3 entities that are connected (1 being the main, the other 2 through relationships) are marked in red. Honestly this is my first app with CDS so I have no idea if I configured them properly. The user just needs to be able to create, edit and delete their own items in a custom entity.

Hi,

It looks like issue may be with the bottom 2 entities highlighted in red. Add Append and Append to permissions to them. I think you will find that records for those entities are being created but they are not being linked to the main entity. The Append and Append To permissions allow the user to relate records.
