Securtiy considerations: Visitor registration app on ipad in reception

Hello. Was there anyone in this forum who has created a visitor registration solution based on Power Apps?

I'm thinking about a solution for reception and notification on the arrival of guests at a building. If so, I have a few questions Among other things, we consider how secure it is to put a device logged in with a service account in a Power App in a place where anyone can basically have access to the Ipad - even though it is attached to the counter.

Risk: People from outside the company can possibly close the app and open other apps in power apps that are shared with all users. This way they can get access to things made for employees eyes only.

I don't know if there is a way to block access for one user to all other apps that are shared with all users.

I welcome views on this, thanks!

    Hello, thanks for reaching out.

I would work with your Active Directory admin and see if there is a security group for all employees. Then you can share apps with that security group. Verify that security group would not have this service account in it. And then you can share the new reception app with just the service account.

If this helps mark as a solution or give some kudos.
    Have a great day!

    Hello @Doffe83,

You could consider wrapping the app, i.e. making a native iOS app out of your Power App. This would eliminate the need for your using the Power Apps app on the iOS device.

Licensing of your app is probably at best a grey area, though. Every user of the app, also guests, need to be licensed. Technically using your service account will work, but chances are that your app is not licensed properly.

Using a Power Page would probably be a good alternative both from a security and a licensing perspective.

    Just sayin' 😉

Hi, thanks for input, this is a good way to share the app, but will not solve the issue of possibly be able to see other apps shared with "Everyone" if someone manages to close the app. Though this is probably not a good practice we have apps shared this way (see image) in out company.

That's a good idea wrapping the app, if not using Power Pages.
We'll explore the possibility to use Power Pages for this. If any of you know of any other examples/templates/screenshots on using Power Pages for this type of app I'll be glad to hear about it 🙂

I'm not aware of any template for this, unfortunately.
