Power Apps per app plan - How

(0) ShareShare

Hi All,

I have purchased 200 Power App per app licenses for my tenant.

I have assigned 1 license to 1 environment and remaining 199 to another environment.

I created an app in 1st env. and changed the settings to allow App pass for this app.

Then I shared it with 3 users, who did not have any license.

What I noticed was that all 3 users were able to access this app, without any issues.

My understanding was that only 1 user should be able to access it and the remaining 2 should get 'Start trial license' message.

Please let me know how this assignment works. Also, I would like to know more about how to remove these app passes, as I have tried un-sharing the app, but I only get 'This app has not been shared with you' message and not a License issue prompt.

Any leads would be very much appreciated.

    Per App License is allocated to an environment rather than an individual user. When an App is shared with a user then an available license is assigned to that particular user for that environment. In this case, the user should not able to access it since no license is allocated to the environment.

    Users should not be able to authenticate with Office365.

    Can you check the other environment to see how many licenses are used?

    @prachi8190

    At present, 1 per App License allows access to 2 Apps. The App Pass is assigned to an App. Therefore, 1 user can access 2 Apps or 1 App can be accessed by 2 users. This is set to change in the near future. You can read about the forthcoming changes here, https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-au/blog/apps-for-everyone-updates-to-power-apps-pricing-and-licensing/

    To assign or remove App Pass from a particular App, you have to go the settings for that App as seen below,

    For the other environment, no license has been used yet.

    Currently, I have allocated only 1 license to environment and 199 to other environment. With this logic only 2 users should be able to access app, but for me 4 users are able to access the app.

    Its not restricting the others.

    Also, I understand how to remove app pass from app. But I want to check the users that have assigned app pass and remove them if they are no longer using it. Is there a way?

    @prachi8190

    4 users are able to access the app. Is your App using Premium connectors?

    I want to check the users that have assigned app pass and remove them if they are no longer using it. Is there a way? No. The only way is to unshare the App if they are not using it.

    @CNT The app does not have Premium connector.

    @prachi8190 You wouldn't need a Per App License if you do not have any Premium connectors. See attached guide.

    Please remember to give a 👍 and accept the solution as it will help others in the future.

    @CNT -Thanks for Sharing the document. I tried creating an app with premium connector and repeated the same steps. Still getting the same results. All 4 users who didn’t have license earlier are able to view app.

    Having the same question, I wonder if you're talking about Canvas app or Model Driven app?
