Need help creating a solution to be used by clients

Hey guys,

I am working as developer for a company that is Microsoft partner. I have created a powerApps app according to company requirements. Our goal is now to sell it to our client. My boss has told me that creating a solution is the right way to go. However, I am having no luck understanding the documentation.

The power app uses SQL connections, CDS Account Entity, BING maps, and Office 365 connections. I am having trouble understanding on how this app could be packaged and used on the client's tenant and environment. What should be my next steps so that when client get the app it uses our SQL and bing maps connection but their CDS account entity and office 365 connection?

Any help is appreciated! Thanks

    Thank you alrez,

That was really helpful. I wanted to know why it is not recommended, and what are the ways around it? I also wanted to ask about entities and custom entities.

    1) So if my app is using account entity for example, and I am using some of the fields in the entity, when the app (and the solution) is moved to client's environment, will it access client's account entity and its fields?

    2) And if I create a custom entity in my environment and use it in the app and the solution, does moving to the app to a different create those entities or do they need to exist there already?

    Thanks again!

    Hi,

When you add the Power App to a solution, its kind of like a little zip file that contains everything that the customer will need for that flow. When you set up connections in the PowerApp it will recognize that that connector is there and needs to be there to work in the destination environment, but the customer will have to have the same connector in their environment to make it work. So if you have this Bing maps connector in there, then when the app is imported into the customers environment it will look for the same Bing maps connector to connect to to make the app work. The same goes for all of the other connectors. In order for the customer to connect to your Bing connection in their environment you will need to go into their environment and set up your connector in their environment. This is not recommended due to a few reasons, but its technically doable.

    Regards,

    Alex
