Power Apps UI layout breaks on some laptops but works fine on others (same app, same version)

Hi Power Platform Community,

I’m facing an unusual issue with a Canvas Power App that was originally built about a year ago.

When opening the same app on different laptops, we’re seeing inconsistent UI behavior:
On some laptops, the app loads perfectly fine and the layout appears exactly as designed.
On other laptops, the same app opens with scattered/misaligned components (controls overlapping, spacing broken, layout not respecting the original design).
This happens without any changes to:
  • The app version
  • The environment
  • User permissions
Key details:
  • App type: Canvas Power App
  • Built: ~1 year ago
  • Issue observed: Only on some laptops, not all Same browser + same app URL Components appear distorted only on affected devices (see images below)
I’ve attached screenshots below showing:
  • How the app looks on a working laptop
  • How the same app looks on an affected laptop.
Any insights, similar experiences, or suggested fixes would be greatly appreciated.

Based on your screenshots, the issue is exactly consistent with display-scaling problems + non-responsive layout.

    Do this in order:
Ask one affected user to set:
         Display scaling → 100% (System Settings - Display - Scale & Layout - Scale - choose 100% in dropdown)
Browser zoom → 100% (Set the browser zoom level to 100%)

If it fixes the problem →
Your app must be converted to responsive layout to permanently fix it.

Add Containers and replace hard-coded Width/X/Y values with dynamic formulas.

I also observed the data is not loading in the second screenshot.

Quick fixes / checks (fastest first)
Try InPrivate window at 100% zoom; sign in to the same account/tenant.
Clear site data for make.powerapps.com and the app domain; reload.
Re‑authenticate connectors: open the app in Studio → Data pane → each connection → Refresh; then run app and accept consent prompts.
Disable third‑party cookie blocking (or allow Power Apps and your data hosts).
Test without VPN/proxy; whitelist Power Platform and your datasource domains.

As my observation, in screen 2 where Canvas Apps is not working :

I believe, few functionalities are working on the data driven which do not exist during the rendering the apps.
my first advice to verify all data in the non working situation.

    my second observation :

Because the app was built a year ago, it may not have been configured for "Scale to Fit" or might be struggling with high-resolution screens on newer laptops.

The issue is usually because the app is NOT fully responsive.

    Explanation:

    • By default, Canvas apps were built with fixed positions (X/Y, width, height).
    • If screen size, resolution, or scaling changes, controls shift or overlap.
    • That means the layout is not responsive.
    • Need to create the layout to be responsive.

    How to confirm:

Open the app → Settings → Display

    If you see:

    • Scale to fit = ON
    • Lock aspect ratio = ON

then the app is using fixed layout scaling, not true responsive design.

    Proper responsive apps use:

“The layout is not fully responsive in Power Apps, which is why it renders differently across devices.”

I hope this works for you!
