Comments (Rich Text Editor) not appearing in sharepoint list after submit form.

Hi everyone,

I have two forms in my Power app. One is a 'new form' for a new request and the other is to 'edit' that request. Within the edit form, I have a 'comments' data card that contains a rich text editor which is not appearing in the SharePoint list when I click on submit form.

I have a comments data card and a data card value under that within which the rich text editor is there and the below is an HTML text box to display previous comments.

Default value of Comments DataCard: If(Not(IsBlank(richtextcomments.HtmlText)),User().FullName & " " & Now() & " " & richtextcomments.HtmlText & Char(13)) & PlainText(ThisItem.Comments)

Update: richtextcomments_1.HtmlText

Would appreciate any help on this.

    Are you attempting to append any comments provided in the richtextcomments control to the beginning of the  Comments field, with some provided user detail to know who/when the comment is associated? Also do you want to keep the Rich Text Formatting set by the user, or did you want to strip all that out before posting to your SP List?

    You could try the following (but it will strip the rich text formatting):

    1. Change the Default value of Comments_DataCard to: ThisItem.Comments
    2. Change the Default value of richtextcomments to be blank
    3. Set the HTMLText value of your HTMLText control to: Parent.Default
    4. Change the Update value of Comments_DataCard to: If(!IsBlank(richtextcomments.HtmlText), $"{User().FullName} {Now()} {richtextcomments.HtmlText}" & Char(13)) & PlainText(ThisItem.Comments)

    Yes, that is exactly what I am trying to do. Whenever a comment is entered the HTML text box below shows the user name time & the comment as a reference whenever this request is viewed or edited next.

    I prefer to keep the rich text formatting in case any hyperlinks are inserted.

    The previous comments no longer work if I do the changes suggested, any other workaround, and why comments are not patching? Also, this issue only recently started and was working perfectly okay earlier.

    Right now, is your Comments Field in SP the actual comments associated with a list row? Or is it a text field named "Comments"? If it's a text field named "Comments", can you tell me is it set as a multiline text field with plain text, rich text formatting, or enhanced rich text formatting?

    I don't get the first part of your question. But yes it is a multiline text field named comments set to enhanced rich text formatting.
