Data Flow from Excel to Dataverse tables using an On-Premise connector

Hello All,

Is there any way I can connect to a local drive (C:/MyFiles) folder using an On-Premise data connector and port the data from an excel file to the DataVerse table?

I have installed the Gateways and I have the right permissions. I have created the connection to the on-premise data connector but when I pick "Excel File" as my Data Source, I just cannot give a '\\' path or specify 'C:\MyFiles''. Unfortunately my clients don't allow One Drive.

How can I pick the file from my local drive and set the data flow (and not Power Automate Flows) up?

Looking at this link, it almost seems like I can pick any file from any drive and not just One Drive. But just how?

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-query/connectors/excel

Thanks

    Hi @rprahalad,

Not sure if you got this resolved yet, the link you provided is for Power BI Power Query which is a little different from Dataverse Dataflows. Dataverse Dataflows is more limited. See differences here: https://docs.microsoft.com/power-query/dataflows/understanding-differences-between-analytical-standard-dataflows
I've never tried from my local drive, but another option is your organization doesn't allow OneDrive is SharePoint? What that work?

    Hi @EricRegnier ,

I was able to pull it off. An On-Prem connector is what was needed. That 'Browse One Drive' button is misleading. I thought we can ONLY use One Drive as the source for all Data Flow activities involving file drops.

    Thanks

I met same issue and not solved yet.

what does On-Prem connector mean here? a custom data source over an on-premise data gateway?

i have done so, and i assure i have the needed permissions. but when i was creating a data flow, i cannot see my custom data source.

    Any suggestion?

Hey @MichaelSoft, yes that's what it means. The On-Prem Data Gateway pointing to an on-prem data source (eg SQL Server). What type of data source are your trying to reference. A screenshot, error message can help. Cheers!
