Any different between assigning "Basic user" role and Associate a security group?

I have created a new environment. There is a canvas app built on it. In order to share the App to userA, I grant userA with Basic user role access and then share my app to him.

Now I have to share this app to a group of users. There is an existing security group (groupA) for them. I checked the new environment do not have any security group associated. It seems all I need to do is associate groupA to this environment.

My question is what will be their permission level after I associate groupA to environment? Is it possible to assign groupA to "Basic user" role? Thanks for clarification.

    Exactly! But, 2 best practices:

    - Don't not use the rol Basic User, use better the rol App Opener

    - Create a copy of this rol and customize it with your privileges necessary.

Do you mean I should create a "Team" and assign the "Team" with Basic User role. Then add the security group as the member of the "Team"?

Yes, you only have to create "Microsoft Entra ID Security Group" to relate the Security role with the Security group.
