Editable grid component not available for all public views (can be selected for some views, but not others)

I often run into an issue whereby changing the default read-only grid component in a view to an editable grid is not possible for some views but works fine with other views (even within the same table!).

Example (in Classic mode), classic "Editable Grid" and new "Power Apps grid control" (which can be set to be editable) are not in the control list:

In the modern designer, I can select and configure the component, but this error message is shown every time I try to save the view:

Any ideas on how to solve this issue? If not, I would love to at least understand the logic to explain why it works with some views, but not with others.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @CharlesS

Have you reviewed the standard table limitations?  https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/model-driven-apps/make-grids-lists-editable-custom-control#supported-standard-tables

I am using editable grids with custom tables. Within the same custom table, I am able to set the Editable Grid (or the Power Apps grid control) for some public views, but not others.

    Hi @dpoggemann,

While your answer is not a direct solution, it certainly did lead me in the right direction and helped me resolve the issue!

In the same document where you suggested I should review the "Supported standard tables", there is another section entitled Make main grids editable (which is exactly what I was trying to do). This section allowed me to understand what I was doing wrong: the Editable Grid control (or, better still, the new Power Apps grid control) must be added at the entity level. I had previously been trying to add the control at the view level.

I still cannot explain why I was able to add the Editable Grid Control at the view level for some views, and not for others. I think I probably messed up the solution by using a combination of the new modern interface and the classic interface. In any case, that doesn't matter: the issue can be solved by adding the control at the entity level.
