Hi All,
I have recently started to use SharePoint 365 to create Excel files for my organisation in which I am using data sources from other sources to populate via Power Query.
Now the question is rather than manually enter these excel files each week to refresh the data is there a way I can set a refresh schedule? Is it possible to use something like Power BI or Microsoft Flow to set this up as I can't currently see any way of setting any schedule up directly within SharePoint?
Many thanks,
Gaz
Would very much appreciate any update to this issue. I'm sure it's resolvable somehow.
Sorry for necroing this but I run into the same issue and am looking for a solution 4 years after this was posted. Have we had any progress on this?
Adding to the necroing of this thread. I'm having desktop version installed shortly, but I have set up an auto refresh all on workbooks using flow and scripts, but it doesn't actually refresh all until the files are opened, so automatically attaching the workbooks to emails to go out doesn't attach the latest version.
Apologies in advance for necroing this but it doesn't appear to be solved;
For your data source is it possible to set query properties in Excel (Data/Queries and Connections... right click Query and go to Properties) to automatically refresh query on opening?
Then you could run a flow to open the excel instance, refresh should be automatically triggered, then save and close.
If it is an XLSM you would have to do this from PAD because flow hates Macros. If you have flow Premium you can then schedule the desktop flow to run whenever it is required.
Me too. This is a basic blindingly obvious feature need. I have an Excel file in SP-Site/DocLib with SP-Site/List Query
The Excel contains PIVOT Charts that I use as a visual Dashboard on SP-Site Webpart (another obvious feature missing from SP!).
As an SME I dont have the time or money to wade through Power BI and all the complexities that would create.
I just want my SP-Site XLS to auto-update its data connections/querys.
I have exactly the same need... Every day I need to:
1 Open excel file on Sharepoint
2 Click refresh all button in excel file
3 Save file
It is really so complicated that MS Flow can not do this?
Completely agree. these responses just say you can set up a scheduled recurrence. Yes i know i can do that, but the ACTION we want to take is to refresh the queries in the file. @v-yuxima-msft - is there a way we can refresh the file using the power flow?
It looks like there is no answer to this yet and I am facing a similar issue. I need to be able to automate the refresh of Excel files saved to SharePoint online with connections to an On-Prem data source.
Hi @Gazsim
If you want to solve the issues of PowerBI's schedule setting.
You can post here:
