Powerapps version 3.21082.28 destroyed my app!

Hi! Version 3.21082.28 opens my app (saved without errors) with hundreds of errors. It complains of circular references where a container is referencing itself.

The offending formula is this: 40.

How can a hard number be a circular reference? This goes off the rails when it's time to replace the number 32 with the number 32. Powerapps will not allow the typing of the number 32. How can anything be done when numbers cannot be typed? Every time a number is typed to replace this value (another number), the red line comes back, as though a number is not an acceptable data type.

These errors seem to revolve around flexible containers where LayoutMinHeight (and similar) properties have probably been set to Parent.Height (or similar) and not a number, where powerapps replaces this with a physical value when opened in the editor. I cannot type a number to replace this. I cannot edit these values at all. These errors are not errors according to the previous version of powerapps.

Updated Chrome and had the exact same issues.

Powerapps version 3.21082.28 is unusable and won't allow me to fix the (non)-errors to comply with its non-existent demands. Please don't tell me the solution is to simply rewrite the app completely from scratch. I spend more time on powerapps dealing with bugs and workarounds than doing anything productive.

This is also occurring for all of my apps as described above.

All of my apps have been wrecked with bugs where numbers are considered circular references to themselves.

Power Apps is completely unusable in this version 3.21082.28. Please roll back immediately, Microsoft!

This is affecting other developers on my tenant as well (of over 500,000 users).

I see @protskaya is having the same issue here: https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Power-Apps/Error-quot-This-rule-creates-a-circular-reference-between/m-p/1234814

    Temporary solution

Thanks, @protskaya. We did the same and it is working as a temporary solution.

For those wondering, you can change the authoring version within an app by going to Settings -> Support. We applied 3.21081.49 as well.
We worked with a Microsoft Support Engineer so their dev team will now be aware of the issue. It seems to affect properties on any components that sit within horizontal and vertical containers. This is for apps that were pre-existing before the latest version and then opened in 3.21082.28. Apps without containers don't seem to be affected. That's my observation and I guess we'll find out for sure from Microsoft at some point.

Thanks for reporting this issue @mike-beckett, (also tagging @protskaya as there is another thread on this issue) we've rolled back the affected version so you shouldn't be seeing this issue anymore. If you had saved (or autosaved) your app in 3.21082.28, you would need to open the app again in 3.21081.49 to save and publish to get mitigated. Apologies for the inconvenience.

New version 3.21083.25 is also unusable. Same circular reference issue. After typing a few values, Powerapps will not allow making any more changes to the remainder.

I fear the only solution is to abandon the last couple of months work to rewrite the app from scratch, or I will be permanently stuck in version 3.21081.49. The editor won't even allow the app to be fixed.

Thanks Mike, we are aware of the issue on 3.21083.25 as well and are working on the fix. For the time being, 3.21081 should allow you to continue editing your apps. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Hi,

I am not able to change authoring version. Is there a workaround other than this?

    @tekman13 try this: https://create.powerapps.com/v3.21081.49.195903009/studio/#
